ROCHESTER – Race organizers knew the 2012 Unity Health Systems Rochester Flower City Half Marathon was going to be a large and successful event. However, they did not know how the men and women’s races were going to play out. One race strategy for the winner was to kick it into overdrive from the get go, while another strategy called for hammering in the hills to play catch up to the leaders.

Chichester victorious in Fleet Feet Spring Forward 15K

MENDON PONDS — The second race of the Greater Rochester Track Cub Runner of the Year series took place on Sunday with Tim Chichester establishing himself as the regions premier runner at the early point of the spring season.

The 15K had over 500 finishers and the 2.5 mile run had over 175. Chichester defeated David Rappleyea with a time of 48:42, which is a pace of 5:14/mile over 9.6 miles.

Body of Larie Butler found, Devante Lively to be charged with homicide

IRONDEQUOIT — Police officials announced that the body found in a pool in Irondequoit has bee identified as Larie Butler, 17, who was a student at East high School. DeVante Lively, 20, has been arrested and charged with homicide.

Butler was reported missing by family early Sunday morning. She had last spoke to her mom Saturday afternoon when she said that she was going to Marketplace Mall with some friends.
